Our pigs are heritage breeds, and are chosen for their superior foraging ability and incomparable taste. We have Ossabaw and Ossabaw crossed with other English breeds (including Old Spot, Berkshire and Tamworth). The meat is more like red meat than the typical “other white meat” of lesser pork. The result is increased marbling and incredibly rich flavor.
The pigs are raised on what we call woodland pasture so that they get exercise and find a lot of food additional to the non GMO ration we provide. They have access to natural spring mud holes to keep cool in the hottest parts of the summer. The combination of heritage breed genetics and the woodlots results in pork that you just can’t find in any grocery store.
