Our heritage breed turkeys include Broad Breasted Bronze, Bourbon Red and Royal Palm birds. Like our chickens, they benefit greatly from grazing on grass, legumes and insects. We protect the birds from predators with electric netting fences and move them through the pasture throughout the summer. We start the birds in a brooder house in May and have them on pasture by the end of June. They should be finished just in time for Thanksgiving. Like our chickens, these turkeys are seasonal and can only be produced during the growing season of the grass.

A community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other’s lives. It is the knowledge that people have of each other, their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves.— Wendell Berry
